Cat Among the Lupins Poster

This was Jean's daughter's cat in Hong Kong. His name was Kitty and he was a mixed blend tabby. His most striking feature was that he loved to pose. In this painting Jean created a juxtaposition of the family’s Chinese striped cat surrounded by multi-coloured lupins that reminded Jean of her summers as a child growing up in a flower-filled garden in Hampshire in England, combined with an Italian landscape of Umbrian fields, where Jean lived for the 30 years. All aspects of Jean’s life amalgamated together with her use of colour theory whereby there is a harmony when combining certain colours.
